[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Thick chromium plating<\/strong> means the process of coating the surface of a metal with a deposit of hard chromium; the purpose of this galvanic process<\/strong><\/a> is to make the metal more resistant to corrosion and wear.<\/p>\n

It can also be called: thick hard chrome<\/strong>, thick hard chrome<\/strong> or, more simply, hard chrome<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

How many types of chrome are there?<\/h2>\n

Based on the material to be worked on and the type of objective to be achieved, the surface treatment of metal chrome plating is declined in different types of interventions; in fact we are talking about chrome plating on aluminum<\/a>, decorative chrome<\/a> and, of course, thick chrome<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The thick chromium plating process, in particular, has the purpose of creating deposits of hard chrome<\/strong>, shiny or opaque based on the preparation of the previously coated piece, resistant to wear<\/strong> and with thicknesses greater than 1 \u03bcm<\/strong> (even up to 100 \u03bcm) directly on the object to be coated, ie without the interposition of layers of copper or nickel.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1679912991644{margin-top: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”flexslider_slide” interval=”5″ images=”1420,1423″ img_size=”full” onclick=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Characteristics of hard chrome coatings<\/h2>\n

The objects to be coated with hard chromium<\/strong> are treated in a solution of chromium salts<\/strong> and the metallic chromium coating is obtained with an electrochemical oxidation-reduction process<\/strong>.
\nTo distinguish the chrome coatings, so as to allow their use in various sectors, are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • high hardness (hardness varies between 900 and 1000 Hv)<\/li>\n
  • low friction coefficient<\/li>\n
  • suitability for use in severe tribological conditions<\/li>\n
  • non-stick<\/li>\n
  • good mechanical workability<\/li>\n
  • high chemical and thermal resistancea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The corrosion resistance<\/strong> of a chromium deposit, in particular, depends on the thickness deposited, the adhesion of the deposit and the micro-cracking.<\/p>\n

    The chrome deposit can be glossy or opaque and the roughness<\/strong> depends on the customer&#39;s requests: Ra between 0.1 and 2.0 can be obtained.<\/p>\n

    What metals can be coated with thick chrome plating?<\/h2>\n

    After appropriate preparatory treatments and without intermediate layers, it is possible to coat the following materials<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Iron<\/li>\n
    • Aluminum and its alloys after special preparation<\/li>\n
    • Stainless steels<\/li>\n
    • Carbon steels also heat treated<\/li>\n
    • Copper and its alloys<\/li>\n
    • Brass<\/li>\n
    • Zamak<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The maximum dimensions<\/strong> of the details that we can process are 1600 x 1100 x 300.
      \nPossibility of dehydrogenation and\/or lubrication with emulsifiable oils.
      \nOther customer requests<\/strong> can also be met:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • the pieces<\/strong> can be, by means of protections, only partially chromed<\/strong>;<\/li>\n
      • with the use of specially designed frames and the addition of reported anodes they can also be chromed internally or in areas where normal penetration does not allow it<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • we can also create two-tone glossy\/matt areas on a single piece<\/strong>, to facilitate photocell readings or to respond to particular customer needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
